Delicious food from Turkey


Turkish food is delicious and not just kebab. It's also very healthy with lots of vegetables, legumes and grains in their diet. Here are some of my favorite foods from Turkey:

Kebab



Kebab is a type of meat that's popular in Turkey. It can be made from lamb or chicken and served with rice, salad and yogurt sauce.

Dolma, sarma

Dolma is a collection of stuffed vegetables. Sarma is a type of cabbage leaf that's stuffed with rice and meat, usually lamb or chicken. Both dishes are popular in Turkey, where they're served with red lentils called cezve that have been cooked down to a thick paste (known as hilüp). They're also traditionally eaten on holidays like Eid al-Adha—a time when people gather together to eat meals they've prepared themselves.

Kofte



Kofte is one of the most popular dishes in Turkey, and it's easy to see why. A meatball filled with ground beef and herbs, kofte can be served with rice or bulgur as well as bread. It's a great choice for any meal!

Manti

Manti is a Turkish dumpling that's filled with meat and spices. It can be eaten as an appetizer or as part of a larger meal.

Manti are traditionally made by wrapping flatbread around the filling of minced lamb, onions, garlic and spices before baking it in an oven until golden brown on all sides.

Baklava

Baklava is a traditional Turkish dessert. It's made from flaky pastry and nuts, honey, sugar and phyllo dough. The word "baklava" means “crescent moon” in Turkish.

The filling consists of chopped walnuts, pistachios or almonds with cinnamon powder (1 tsp), cardamom powder (1 tsp) and rose water (2 tbsp). The pastry sheets are layered with this mixture before baking in an oven at 350°F for about 45 minutes to 1 hour until golden brown on top; they should turn crisp when you remove them from their pan because they'll continue cooking as they cool down inside your oven!

Menemen

Menemen is a Turkish breakfast dish made with eggs and herbs. It is served with tomato, pepper and often parsley. The spicy flavor of this dish makes it very popular in Turkey. Menemen can be prepared for breakfast, lunch or dinner as well.
